3d shaper machine was built in collaboration with archetype foundry for prototyping purpose. the surface shape of the machine is controlled to match a computer 3D file (.stp)
this prototype was built with 4×4 grid linear actuators. each axis controlled by Arduino using a PID controller to control DC motor with an acurate strip encoder. all the actuators where controlled by master Arduino controller through I2C communication bus. which is connected to a host Computer via Bluetooth.
the computer had python software to extract the points from the 3D .Stp file, visualize and send the z-axis positions to the machine. so it shapes the surface.
